From Mexico City to other states, this is the behavior of removals in the center of the country

Mexico City, unlike other cities in Latin America such as Santiago de Chile, stands out because much of its mobility, via changesis to other states in the country and not intra-urban as in different cities in the region, said Roberto Picon, co-founder of the Mudango.com platform.

In an interview, Picon explained that there is an opportunity to digitize the market for changes in the country, because currently most of these services are very traditional, with a lot of friction and that generate stress for people who are in the process of moving to another home.

“In Mexico there are many more services between cities, cities, in Chile the removals within the capital they represent 70% of our services, but within Mexico City they represent 50%, that is, the rest are services that change cities, so there are many movements between cities and that means that Mexico has many people who going to live from one city to another,” Picon said.

In this context, the co-founder of the platform indicated that Mudango has detected an opportunity to formalize and simplify the issue of changeswhere, with its platform, companies dedicated to this market connect with users who require a service of this nature.

“The problem of moving and the storage of goods is super painful when it is done in a traditional way… When you take the time to review the reasons for stress that people who change homes have, the changes at least in the top three in different rankings in the world,” Picon explained.

For the director of Mudango.com, most of the companies in this market are in the informal segment, which means that there is a risk of price changes immediately and without being responsible for the care of the merchandise.

“What technology does is add a layer that will organize, digitize and consolidate all the information, that is, everything necessary for the moving and storage in the warehouse goes well, because in the end things go well when they are coordinated and there we have a technology that allows everything to be automated”, he commented.

Mudango.com formalized its first moving digital in February 2017 and in 2019 it arrived in Colombia, and later, in November 2020, it arrived in Mexico.

Since its operation in the country, it has formalized more than 15,000 changeswith an average price of 250 dollars (around 5,000 pesos) for each one, and for the storage of merchandise, where it has a 1,700-meter warehouse in the State of Mexico, it already has 100 clients.

For Picon, these numbers give it good growth prospects, which is why they have expanded to other cities such as Guadalajara, Monterrey, Toluca and Veracruz.

“We compete against the traditional market, the old market, we come as a technological platform to innovate with technology with good service, with convenient prices that generate economies of scale for our clients or for our suppliers,” explained the director of Mudango.com.

Since its inception, the firm has raised around 1.7 million dollars, in a pre-seed round and two seed rounds, which has helped it strengthen its operation and hopes to carry out a new raising with a view to reaching Brazil.
