The National Commission for Human Rights (CNDH) requested precautionary measures from the security and migration authorities of the state of Tamaulipas, due to the precarious conditions in which people in the context of mobility are found in shelters and border points in that state.
Through a statement, the CNDH made such a request to the Migration’s national institute (INM), National Guard (GN), to the National System for the Comprehensive Development of the Family (DIF), as well as to the Secretary of Government, Health, Public Security, the General Directorate of the System for the Comprehensive Development of the Family and the Municipal Presidency of Reynosa.
“This National Commission received the written complaint presented by the International Association of Human Rights for the Defense, Promotion and Observance AC and the director of the “Senda de Vida 1 and 2” migrant shelters, which are located in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, in addition to being aware of some journalistic notes in which it is reported that serious risks to the life, health, physical integrity and dignity of people in the context of migration persist inside these shelters,” the CNDH indicated in its document of press.
He added that the commission itself is aware of the “crisis on the northeast edge of Mexico”which has forced families, mainly from Central America and Haiti, to live on the streets, since there are more than 8,000 people in the context of migration, who are in precarious conditions, which violates their human dignity .
He added that these organizations identify as the main problems the lack of surveillance on the limits of the Rio Grande, in addition to the fact that improvised garbage dumps have been created, for which people spend the night in unsanitary conditions, as well as violent acts among the migrant population with weapons. white and towards the staff of the shelters, making constant calls for help towards the elements of the National Guard, a corporation that has not responded.
“In addition, the authorities of the three levels of government have failed to address the aforementioned conflicts and have only held each other responsible, but without intervening to resolve the current crisis, without providing economic or in-kind resources to address the problem,” the CNDH said. .
