Deputies approve Federal Rights Law 2023; begins discussion of Income Law

The Chamber of Deputies approved this Thursday afternoon Federal Law of Rights (LFD), where the amounts of rights that are charged for the provision of services of the agencies, such as the issuance of passports, the radio spectrum, among others, are updated and adjusted.

With 270 votes in favor, 217 against and one abstention, the plenary session of San Lázaro approved the law in general and in particular, the minutes of which will be sent to the Senate for analysis, discussion and approval.

During the discussion, which began around 11:30 in the morning, the opposition deputies criticized the fact that the LFD was approved as ordered by the Federal Executive on September 8, in conjunction with the Economic Package 2023.

“We are facing a ruling that makes essential inputs more expensive, such as the radio spectrum, mining rights, connectivity rights and mobile operation, to name a few. More is spent, but there is no impact on citizens,” said Patricia Terrazas. , of the PAN.

What is approved in terms of rights for the following year highlights the standardization of the collection fees for the use of the radio spectrum the following year, which will be revised downwards.

Also, by 2023, quotas will be established for the issuance of the certificate of registration or updating of the employer, which is a prerequisite for the reception and resolution of immigration procedures for foreigners who must work in Mexico.

Also, the charge for the authorization and issuance of visas or visas is added to the consular services, as well as a modification to exempt foreigners who request a Visitor visa without permission to carry out paid activities from charging visa fees, when they are considered victims or prove to be relatives of foreigners disappeared in national territory, or for humanitarian causes, among others.

At the end of this vote, the deputies began with the discussion of the Federal Income Law (LIF) 2023, which forecasts revenues of 8.29 billion pesos for the following year.

The deadline for the approval of the LIF is October 20.
