Nokia presents MX Industrial Edge, its platform for Industry 4.0 in Mexico

Nokia presented in Mexico the Nokia MX Industrial Edge, a comprehensive industrial platform for Industry 4.0, designed to be located within industrial facilities, and to serve as the single control panel for digitization and automation.

In order to achieve digital transformation, the Industry 4.0 era requires massive connectivity and data processing from equipment, machines and other assets in industrial environments.

Due to the increasing volume of data and the need for real-time automation, more data is required to be processed at the edge, close to where it is generated.

The consultancy Gartner predicts that by 2025, 75% of industrial data will be processed at the edge.

This platform combines fixed/wireless network management, computing management, storage and industrial applications in a unified digital transformation platform located at the customer’s premises.

The company said that Nokia MX Industrial Edge is available in different configurations to support small, medium and large-scale industrial deployments. Based on Nokia’s AirFrame Open Edge server, it is designed for compute-intensive tasks and advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) workloads, with optional graphics processing (GPU) support.

Nokia MX Industrial Edge removes the complexity, required knowledge, and financial hurdles often associated with the deployment, integration, and lifecycle management of high-performance computing applications and mission-critical networks.

Alejandro Cortes, commercial director of Nokia Enterprise for the northern region of Latin America, commented that “Nokia came at the right time, when a new manufacturing boom begins in Mexico, which gives us the opportunity to present our offer to dozens of new manufacturing companies that are starting operations in 2022, as well as established companies that are starting their digital transformation.”
