Passage of “Roslyn” through Nayarit caused the death of at least two people

The hurricane “Roslyn” caused the death of two people as it passed through Nayarit, on the Pacific coast, and already reduced its power to that of a tropical storm.

One of the victims of hurricane She was identified as Ana Rosa Moreno Pimentel, a resident of the municipality of Rosamorada, who was buried when her home sank due to the force of the wind and water.

Meanwhile, on the island of Mexcaltitanin the municipality of Santiago Ixcuintla, a man identified as Gilberto Hernández Rodríguez, approximately 80 years old, died when a wall fell on him.

The storm has crossed the mountains of Nayarit, so a rise in rivers and possible flooding is expected. The authorities continue with the work of cleaning roads and highways after the fall of trees in the municipalities of Santiago Ixcuintla, Compostela, Acaponeta, San Blas, Tepic and Bahía de Banderas. The objective is to be able to access the most affected communities and provide the necessary support to the population.

Jalisco reports material damage

The state government of Jalisco reported that there is no news of fatalities related to the hurricane, although there is material damage in the municipalities of Puerto Vallarta and Cabo Corrientes.

As a preventive measure, the beaches will remain closed during the day on Sunday and mountain activities such as cycling, motorcycles and quads will not be carried out.

The National Water Commission (Conagua) reported in its court at 4:00 p.m. (local time), that Roslyn was located on land as a tropical storm, approximately 115 kilometers (km) east of Durango, Durango; with maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour (km/h), gusts of 95 km/h and displacement towards the northeast at 33 km/h.

The agency forecast “intense” rains in areas of Durango, Nayarit and southern Sinaloa, “very strong” rains in towns of Jalisco and Zacatecas; “strong” rains in Aguascalientes, Coahuila and Colima; in addition to intervals of showers in Nuevo León and San Luis Potosí.
