Astros win American League after sweeping Yankees

It took 30 years for both World Series teams to qualify on the same day. In the case of the Houston Astros, they did it after sweeping New York 4-0 after winning the last game with a dramatic 6-5 that lit up the Yankee Stadium stands.

The Astros will play in the World Series for the second year in a row after losing last year to the Atlanta Braves. In addition to this, they will seek to win the Fall Classic for the first time since 2017, where they beat the Bronx team with the negative point of having been found guilty of stealing signs in the decisive games of the series.

As expected, the local team took to the field with the determination to achieve victory that would, at least, lengthen the series for one more game. The hope of achieving it grew by maintaining a three-run lead until before the third inning where Houston’s power was noted thanks to Jeremy Peña’s home run that, with two men on base, tied the score and, later, a single put them up 4-3 before the doubts of the rivals.

The Yankees got back in front with two runs in the fourth and sixth innings respectively, however everything was defined until the seventh inning where, once again, New York was the victim of their defensive errors and cost them practically the end of the game in the one that could start the feat or at least make the Championship Series more decorous. Two runs from Houston in the aforementioned inning came due to the poor pitches of the Yankees pitchers to record the 6-5 that would end up being definitive.

The Bronx team’s offense did not give up, however, the Houston pitchers had a perfect game closure and denied them the tie in the remaining innings to be crowned champions of the American League in the MLB for the fourth time in the last six years. .
