Tourism sector anticipates positive results due to the start of operations of the first Guadalajara-Bogotá air route

Guadalajara, Jalisco. With the start of operations of the first air route that connects Guadalajara, Mexico with Bogotá, Colombia, the tourism service providers of both cities project a growth in tourism between the South American country and Mexico.

“The entry into operation of the route Guadalajara-Bogota generates great opportunities for the growth of tourism between Colombia and Mexico, and opens a new bridge that brings South America closer to the north of the continent,” said the Deputy Minister of Tourism of Colombia, Arturo Bravo.

The new route, which is operated by Viva Aerobús, will serve one of the largest international travel markets in Latin America and, according to statistics from the Mexican Ministry of Tourism, between January and August of this year, more than half million passengers from Colombia visited Mexico, a figure that represents an increase of 150% compared to the same period in 2021.

The director of the Bureau of Visitors and Conventions (OFVC) of GuadalajaraGustavo Staufert, said that the relationship between this city and the Colombian capital is such that Bogotá is the second city in the world where there are more mariachis.

The new air route offers, in principle, two flights a week and is operated with Airbus A320 aircraft with capacity for 186 passengers, and A321 aircraft for 240 people.

“We will make more than 35,000 seats a year available to everyone and thus, the connectivity and competitiveness of both countries is strengthened to the benefit of key sectors such as tourism and commerce,” said the general director of Viva Aerobús, Juan Carlos Zuazua.
