Parents of the 43 normalistas ask to replace arrest warrants vs those involved

The fathers and mothers of the 43 missing students from the Ayotzinapa teacher training school asked the President of the Republic, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, to investigate the 21 officials and soldiers whose arrest warrants were withdrawn.

Vidulfo Rosales, lawyer for the relatives of the 43 students, declared, in an interview with El Economista, that the parents endorsed, in their meeting with AMLO, the Undersecretary of the Interior, Alejandro Encinas, and Rosendo Gómez Piedra, recently appointed prosecutor in the case, their position. that the 21 arrest warrants, including 16 soldiers, should not have been withdrawn.

“The approach that was made (to the president) is that all these people against whom the arrest warrants were canceled be investigated; that no one is outside the law, that an exhaustive investigation be carried out, that the evidence data be reviewed, the solidity of the criminal actions and, if necessary, reactivate the arrest warrants, ”said the lawyer.

Vidulfo Rosales expressed that, to review this issue, a new meeting with the president is planned in approximately one month.

They reject appointment

On the other hand, the lawyer explained that the appointment of the new prosecutor for the case was also discussed at the meeting. He expressed that the parents of the disappeared normalistas do not agree with the appointment of Rosendo Gómez Piedra, by López Obrador.

In addition, he said that the parents proposed that the election be reconsidered and that a profile that they can present be taken into account, although he assured that the president asked them for a vote of confidence for the new prosecutor Rosendo Gómez Piedra.

The lawyer stated that the final agreement with the federal authorities is that the parents will consider and verify the background of the appointed prosecutor, while the government will verify the parents’ proposal.

For now, Goméz Piedra will remain provisionally but subject to a review and a dialogue that the parents (of the 43 students) and the Government can carry out in the coming days,” he said.

In turn, Vidulfo Rosales indicated that the parents’ meeting with President López Obrador, this Monday at the National Palace, was a “possibility of rebuilding things.”

“I had fallen into a pothole where confrontation, disqualification prevailed and I think that was not going to lead us to anything, to any result,” he said.

At the same time, he added that the interest of the fathers and mothers is not to confront the authorities.

There is no confrontation with Sedena: Encinas

Upon leaving the meeting, Alejandro Encinas pointed out that there is no confrontation with Luis Cresencio Sandoval, head of the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena), over the Ayotzinapa case.

“I only confront those who violated the law,” said Encinas Rodríguez.

In addition, he assured that the parents’ mood during the meeting was critical, subjective and demanding, which he considered correct because they are demanding their rights.
