American car manufacturer General Motors reported on Friday that it temporarily suspended its advertising in Twitterbecoming the first major advertiser to evaluate its presence on the platform, after it was acquired by Elon Musk.

“As is normal to do during a major change in a media platform, we are temporarily suspending our paid advertising,” the company added.
The group is a direct competitor of Tesla, the electric vehicle builder led by Musk.
The new boss of Twitter was presented as an ardent defender of freedom of expression, raising fears about the resurgence of hate speech or misinformation, among those in favor of greater control of content.
Musk tried to reassure advertisers by saying on Thursday that he wanted to allow all opinions without making it a “hell” network where everything is allowed, announcing a “content moderation board with very diverse points of view.”
