Reigning NBA champions the Golden State Warriors suffered their second straight defeat after losing 128-114 to the Detroit Pistons Sunday night.
Saddiq Bey scored 28 points, Cade Cunningham was an assist short of a triple-double and the Detroit Pistons beat the defending champion to end a five-game losing streak.
‘I’m overjoyed for our guys after the work they put in tonight,’ Pistons coach Dwane Casey said. ‘That’s what happens with a young, rebuilding team. There are going to be nights like this where people are going to say, `Whoa, where did that come from?´ That’s exciting.’

Cunningham had 23 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists to help the Pistons won for the first time since their opening game. Isaiah Stewart added 24 points and 13 rebounds as Detroit’s starters scored 111 points.
‘I think tonight we showed what Pistons basketball is going to be,’ Stewart said. ‘We played defense the way we needed to play it every night, and on offense we were sharing the ball and making sure everyone got shots.’

‘We can’t stop fouling, and something needs to click with our guys,’ Warriors coach Steve Kerr said after his team put Detroit on the line 38 times. ‘We have to be near the bottom of the league in defensive efficiency and that puts us in some bad spots offensively.’
Golden State led by 10 early in the second quarter, but the Pistons responded with a 29-9 run to take a 10-point lead of their own. Stewart had 15 points and seven rebounds in the first half, including a rare 3-pointer to put Detroit up 63-55 at halftime.
Curry was 3-8 on 3-pointers in a 15-point half, but the rest of the Warriors went 1-13 from behind the arc. Golden State had a 22-12 edge on points in the paint, but Detroit’s jump shooting gave them a decided edge.

‘I think our offense is killing our defense, whether it is floor balance or whether the ball doesn’t move and guys are stagnant,’ Draymond Green said. ‘The two ends aren’t connecting, and in order to be a great team, those two ends have to connect.’
The Pistons kept rolling in the third quarter, starting with an 11-2 run to go up by 17, 74-57.
Poole, though, scored 12 points in 52 seconds – a three-point play and three 3-pointers – to cut it to 79-72.
Meanwhile, the Celtics rolled to a 112-94 win against the Washington Wizards, taking advantage of cold shooting by Bradley Beal.

Jaylen Brown scored 24 points, Jayson Tatum had 23 points, including five 3-pointers, and Malcolm Brogdon added 21 points off the bench to help Boston avoid its third straight loss.
The Celtics connected on 21 3-pointers and had a season-high 29 assists on 36 field goals.
But they were more proud of their defense on a night Washington shot just 38.8 percent from the field.

Elsewhere in the league the Cleveland Cavaliers rallied to beat the New York Knicks 121-108 on Sunday night.
Donovan Mitchell had 38 points and a career-high 12 assists and Kevin Love scored 16 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter.
Mitchell and Love combined for 28 points in the final period as Cleveland outscored New York 37-15. Love made five 3-pointers and Mitchell scored 12 points – both also had four-point plays – in rallying the Cavaliers from a nine-point deficit.
Cleveland made 23 3-pointers in a franchise-record 50 attempts. Mitchell and Love each went 8 for 13 beyond the arc, while Dean Wade was 6 for 8 and scored a career-high 22 points.

Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic hit a season high during his team’s 114-105 win against the Orland Magic as he scored 44 points.
The Slovenian star’s effort helped the Mavericks rebound from a collapse a night earlier.
Rookie Paolo Banchero was held to 18 points for the Magic, the first time this season the No. 1 pick in the draft has failed to reach 20. His six-game streak was tied for the third-longest to begin a career.
Tim Hardaway Jr. added a season-best 21 points off the bench for the Mavericks, who lost to Oklahoma City in overtime Saturday after blowing a 16-point lead in the final four minutes of regulation.
Banchero shot 6 for 20 from the field, going 1 of 6 on 3-pointers. Bol Bol added 16 points.

Also on Sunday night, Zion Williamson had 21 points and 12 rebounds in his return and New Orleans routed Los Angeles.
CJ McCollum added 22 points to help the Pelicans improve to 4-2. Williamson was out the last two games with a right hip and lower back contusion, one of three starters to have missed last two games.

Norman Powell had 18 points off the bench for the Clippers. Paul George added 14 points and Marcus Morris had 12. With Kawhi Leonard again sidelined, the Clippers dropped their fourth in a row. Leonard missed his fourth game because of knee stiffness and also will sit out Monday night against Houston.
Meanwhile, Devin Booker scored 30 points, Cam Johnson added 19 and Phoenix beat Houston for its fourth straight victory.
Booker shot 14 of 24 from the field on his 26th birthday, while fellow All-Star Chris Paul had a season-high 15 assists.
Booker scored 21 points in the first half on 10-of-16 shooting, pushing the Suns to a 65-56 advantage. Jock Landale scored all of his 16 points before the break.
Kevin Porter Jr. led the Rockets with 26 points. Alperen Sengun added 16 points and nine rebounds.
