US company to build Poland’s first nuclear power plant

The government will choose a supplier for the second project of the government’s nuclear power development program “in the coming quarters,” Morawiecki said.

A third project recently announced, to everyone’s surprise, by the Minister of State Assets, contemplates the construction of a nuclear power plant in poland by the South Korean group KHNP and the Polish PGE (state-controlled) and ZE PAK (private).

The letter of intent signed on Monday, which specifies this project, indicates that the plant would probably be located near Patnow (centre), and would use the APR1400 technology developed by KHNP.

Poland had been planning for years to develop the capacity to produce nuclear power for civilian purposes. The issue of energy security became more urgent after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
