Defense of Jesús Murillo Karam goes for house arrest

After this morning the former Attorney General of the Republic, Jesus Murillo Karamwas transferred to the Belisario Domínguez Specialty Hospital in Mexico City, his lawyer Javier López García announced that he will request a change of precautionary measure before a judge to obtain home preventive detention in his favor.

Murillo Karam was transferred this morning from the National Cardiology Institute to the “Dr. Belisario Domínguez ”, to continue his studies due to the delicate state of his health.

Since August 19, the date he entered the North Prison, the former senator and former governor of Hidalgo has had to be hospitalized six times in different public hospitals.

On October 19, he was transferred to the Xoco General Hospital to attend to his delicate state of health derived from the complicated clinical picture he presented. The doctors determined that it was necessary to refer him to the “Ignacio Chávez” National Institute of Cardiology for proper diagnosis and treatment.

After carrying out several studies, on October 20 the doctors of said hospital decided that a surgical intervention was necessary, performing an emergency High-Risk Carotid Endarterectomy surgery. The studies carried out on Murillo Karam revealed another blocked carotid artery, increasing the risk of a cerebral clot.

Since Murillo was arrested, his defense and family warned the authorities of the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) and the judge in the case, that Murillo Karam suffered from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), synthetic arterial hypertension and cerebrovascular insufficiency, for which he requires medical monitoring practically 24 hours a day.

“In this sense, we will continue requesting the change of precautionary measure to obtain the home preventive detention of Mr. Jesús Murillo Karam in view of his delicate state of health, for which the corresponding medical reports are being collected,” said the lawyer Javier López García .
