The United States Trade Representative, Katherine Taicalled for a quick solution to the energy controversy that his country initiated against Mexico within the framework of the Treaty between Mexico, the United States and Canada (T-MEC).

Tai made this statement in his first meeting with the Mexican Secretary of the Economy, Raquel Buenrostro, virtually.

“Tai underscored the importance of moving quickly to address the problems in Mexico’s energy sector that the United States identified in its July 20, 2022 request for consultations under the USMCA,” said the United States Trade Representative (USTRfor its acronym in English), in a statement.

Tai congratulated Buenrostro on her recent appointment as Secretary of the Economy and highlighted the importance of the economic relationship between the United States and Mexico and the continued implementation of the T-MEC.
