Creation of formal employment registered in October the highest figure in history

In October they created 207,968 formal jobs in the country, the highest monthly figure on record, the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) reported on Monday.

Of the total number of additional jobs reported for the beginning of the third quarter of the year, the 68.4% are permanent and 31.6% temporary. The particular data for permanent work, highlighted the institution, is also one of the highest that has been reported.

In short, as of October 31, they had registered with the IMSS a 21 million 617,326 working people86.4% with permanent jobs and 13.6% with temporary positions.

In this way, the accumulated job creation between January and October was 997,178 jobs. This data, highlighted by the agency headed by Zoé Robledo in a statement, “is the second highest since there is a record considering comparable periods.”

The highest concentration of new jobs in the formal market was observed in the transportation and communication, with an annual advance of 7.8%; in construction (5.9%) and in the line of services for companies (5.0%).

By states, when comparing the data with what was reported a year ago, the highest annual growth was observed in Tabasco (13.7%), Quintana Roo (11.2%), Baja California Sur (11.1%), Hidalgo (8.0%) and Tlaxcala (7.1%). At the other extreme, the states with the least progress in formal employment are Zacatecas (-0.2%), the only one with a decrease; Sinaloa (0.8%), Morelos (1.2%), Aguascalientes (1.6%) and Tamaulipas (1.7%).

In terms of labor income, the IMSS reported that in October the contribution base salary was 479.90 pesos, which represents a nominal annual increase of 11.1 percent. Since January 2019, he added, the increases in this indicator have been above 6.0 percent.
