Latin American business organizations sign “Guadalajara Declaration”

Guadalajara, Jalisco. Six Latin American business organizations signed this Friday the “Guadalajara Declaration”, through which they commit to promoting an inclusive and sustainable development model through 20 areas of action “to influence greater comprehensive economic development, fair and sustainable of their countries and, therefore, of the Latin American region”.

Within the framework of the Meeting for Mexico, organized by the Employers’ Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex), business leaders from Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Chile and Costa Rica recognized that the economic and social model that has been applied in their respective countries and in the region, “has not yielded the expected development fruits and its benefits have not reached all the inhabitants.”

Faced with this, the six signatory organizations propose moving towards a model “based on the principles of respect for human dignity, free competition, a democratic and legal regime and solidarity, subsidiary, responsible and inclusive action of society and the public.” government”.

The document was signed by the presidents of Coparmex and the Business Coordinating Council (CCE) on behalf of Mexico; by the president of the Confederation of Production and Commerce (CPC) of Chile; by the interim president of the Costa Rican Union of Chambers and Associations of the Private Business Sector (UCCAEP); by the president of the National Society of Industrialists (SNI) of Peru and by the president of the National Association of Entrepreneurs of Colombia.

“Our nations need an alternative that guarantees a better future for all, that overcomes polarization, that is the way to overcome marginalization and misery, and that promotes human development and peaceful coexistence,” the statement highlights.

“We want Latin America to be a continent with social equity and opportunities for all; We want to be an inspiration for other social, civil, business and any type of organization, ”said the national leader of Coparmex, José Medina Mora, for his part.

The business organizations that sign the declaration undertake to contribute their talent, skills and resources to enrich the Inclusive Development Model for Latin America, as well as put it into practice in all areas of action.

The 20 themes or lines of action included in the Guadalajara Declaration are:

8.- Ethics and public integrity.

12.- Quality education for all.

13.- Social mobility.

14.- Digital access for all.

15.- Solidarity Company.

16.- Incentive for investment, entrepreneurship and productivity.

17.- Sustainable Economic Policies.

18.- Fair and equitable tax system.

19.- Research and innovation with social impact.

20.- Responsible and equitable market that guarantees free competition.
