Mercedes takes over Brazil; Red Bull in conflict

George Russell and Lewis Hamilton managed to come first and second in the Brazilian Grand Prix in a race that had more than one protagonist in the fight for the podium. With the result in Sao Paulo, Mercedes climbs up to fourth and fifth in the drivers’ standings, closing the gap on Red Bull and Ferrari in a season that did not start well.

The Red Bull drivers, Max Verstappen and Checo Pérez, finished in sixth and seventh place respectively, being passed by Carlos Sáinz, who managed to get on the podium, Charles Leclerc and Fernando Alonso, a situation that hurt the Mexican driver in the search for the world runner-up being matched on points by Leclerc and leaving a close finish in the last race of the season with Checo as third place in the drivers’ standings.

The Mexican was unable to defend his second place and ended up falling behind in the final stretch of the race. Checo suffered four passes with six laps to go before the checkered flag, including that of his teammate in the Red Bull team and the controversy arose over what happened to Max with a view to runner-up of the season, as the Dutchman refused to let him the position to the Mexican to add more points.
