Thanks to Layda Sansores and Jaguar Tuesday, the system used by the organizers of Reed Latino to “reward” the strategists, pollsters and publicists who seek recognition —and more clients— at the end of each electoral cycle is public.

In the last three years, the political consultants hired by the PRI and the PRD have practically disappeared from the nominations. This year, Esteban Villegas —supported by an electoral coalition that also involved the PAN— managed to prevent Morena from adding another governorship, in Durango.

Politicians win the votes. But others are the ones who design the campaigns and fight —both in the air and on the ground— their rivals, hand to hand. The triumph of Villegas – former PRI mayor of the Duranguense capital – was a team of PAN consultants, among which Jorge Camacho and Jesús Salazar stand out, in addition to the offices Estrategia en Línea, Facultad and Espora.

Other PAN strategists also defeated Morena in Aguascalientes, with Tere Jiménez as standard bearer. That tandem had the Guadalajara strategist Marco Sifuentes and Kike de la Torre as the main engines.

Political consultants who previously served the PRI now serve better houses. Such is the case of Sergio José Gutiérrez y Espora, where he has incubated a digital Army that worked in Durango, for the opposition alliance, for the PAN in Aguascalientes and for Morena in Hidalgo, a campaign in which -now it is known, by the Reed Latino—the strategist Vinicio Alvarado, former minister and fugitive from Ecuadorian justice, got involved.

Correísmo is present in Mexico, even before the 2018 presidential campaign. Of those who fought it, only Fernando Vázquez Rigada remains, one of the few consultants who would never work for the Mexican left.

Head adviser and personal friend of José Antonio Meade Kuribreña and founder of the PCN Consultores firm, he now works in Querétaro. This year it had little impact on the electoral agenda, but it registered —and won— its crisis management strategy for the governor of Querétaro, Mauricio Kuri, after the violent incident inside the Corregidora stadium, where the Gallos Blancos bar attacked the fans of the Atlas of Guadalajara.

The prize for the best digital crisis protocol was awarded to the government of Nuevo León, but the design of the management of social networks was attributed to the pollster from Monterrey, Poligrama, by Héctor Zuno and Patricio Morelos, who helped Governor Samuel García and his party, Citizen Movement, to appease the inconvenience of Monterrey residents, due to the shortage of drinking water, six months ago.
