CDMX authorities arrest an alleged assailant in the parking lot of Plaza Mitikah

The Secretary of Citizen Security (SSC) from Mexico City reported the arrest of an alleged criminal inside the parking lot of the commercial plaza Mitikahin the mayor’s office Benito Juarezafter some people reported that shots were heard.

The Secretary of Citizen Security of Mexico City, Omar García Harfuchreported that the shots were fired by security elements to arrest a person who had assaulted a passerby.

In a statement the SSC from the capital explained that the arrest was made “after a report of the robbery of a citizen in the Portales neighborhood, issued by the Southern Control and Command Center.”

The Secretary of Citizen Security explained that the alleged perpetrators of the robbery were traveling aboard a red motorcycle that entered the parking lot of the commercial plaza located on Avenida Río Churubusco, in the Xoco neighborhood.

“One of the possible perpetrators was located in the place, who was handling what appeared to be a firearm, so that in the face of an imminent risk and in adherence to the action protocols, officers who were monitoring said person carried out detonation,” reported the capital’s SSC.

The authorities reported that after the arrest they seized a replica of a firearm, cash and a telephone.

Due to the shot, the detained man was treated by emergency services and was diagnosed with a possible fracture of the tibia and fibula, for which he was transferred to a hospital under custody.
