Mexico will not participate in the dialogue between the Venezuelan government and opposition: Ebrard

The Venezuelan government and the Unitary Platform of Venezuela will resume the dialogue and negotiation process in Mexico on November 26.

Without offering details of the venue where the meeting will take place, the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Marcelo EbrardHe said that although Mexico will not participate directly in the talks, it is a good sign that the dialogue between the Venezuelan parties is resumed.

“These processes are delicate. We do not seek leadership, but find a reliable space to be able to dialogue between Venezuelans; We do not directly participate in the dialogue, of course we support the dialogue but we will not be there during the talks”, he told the press.

When asked when the meeting would start, he replied: “I estimate that it will be on saturdaybut I don’t know if they will finish on Sunday, we don’t have an exact time, so we will already be reporting as they themselves, or they determine, for now we see it with great hope and a very good sign and it is good that they are talking”.

In the process facilitated by Norway, the parties will sign a partial agreement on social matters.

The government delegation of Nicolas Maduro specified in a statement that they will seek to sign the Second Partial Agreement for the Protection of the Venezuelan People to meet social needs and public service problems for “the recovery of legitimate resources, property of the Venezuelan State, which today are blocked in the international financial system.”

While the resources, the amount of which has not been reported, will be used to reinforce the public health system with equipment, infrastructure and supplies, expand and reinforce the electric power service and support emergency care due to rains that have caused flooding and landslides.

For its part, the main alliance of opposition parties, the Unitary Platform, stated that the negotiation process should never have been suspended.
