The Government of the Mexico City made 50 collaboration agreements with the business sector within the framework of economic reactivation, derived from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to a response to a request for information, the Secretariat of Economic Development (Sedeco) announced that during 2020 the capital government signed 18 share agreements, by 2021 it carried out a total of 14 and until June of this 2022 there have been 18.
The document in possession The Economist detailed that the first agreement that was signed within the framework of the local reactivation, year 2020, was with Rules Comunication (Smart Business Venture Capital), where the objective was to develop strategies and projects to promote emerging companies or startups.
The second agreement signed was with India-México Business Chamber, while the third was with Federal Express Holdings Méxicoboth had the same purpose of promoting micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
Other companies with which the capital authority signed are Learning for a Better LifeWith it, he set himself the goal of giving workshops; also with Home Depot to create a supply chain with local producers and establish different consumption channels; as well as with DG Energy for MSMEs to modernize their energy systems.
About the business groups that have participated in these alliances with the capital authorities, are the Association of Banks of Mexico, the Association of businessmen and sister cities, the Mexican Association of Companies, the Regulatory Council of Industries and Mercantile Establishments, also the National Association of Grocers and Wholesalers, the Mexico City Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Small Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism.
The last concertation agreement that the local government made, at the cutoff of June 2022, was with MegaHabilidades.
“The purpose of this instrument is to combine efforts to develop a support strategy in the development, promotion and modernization, formalization and adoption of disruptive technologies, digital transformation 4.0 that favor MSMEs”, reads the document.
Boost to the real estate sector
Among the 50 agreements announced by the Sedecothere is the agreement of this 2022 to promote the participation of the real estate sector in the industrial zone of Vallejo-I.
The Association of Real Estate Developers, the Mexican Association of Industrial Parks, the Mexican Association of the Toy Industry, as well as CBRE Inmobiliaria participate in the alliance.
Among the actions it is contemplated to guide investments and sustainable developments in the Vallejo Industrial Zone and its adjoining areas.
Economic reactivation actions in CDMX
Since June 2020, efforts have been made to achieve the economic reactivation for Mexico City, as the first action the Head of Government and President Andrés Manuel López Obrador presented the first economic reactivation plan for Mexico City.
There, an investment of 76,267 million pesos in public and private works was contemplated to generate a total of 987,183 direct and indirect jobs.
By April 2020, the head of the Government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, again announced that she would be taking more actions. Precisely, the Economic Reactivation Plan for the Well-being of Mexico City was presented, which contemplated a private investment of 75,000 million pesos and the goal of creating 300,000 direct jobs.
That plan was also based on the construction sector and was made up of 10 strategic axes: social rights and support for the population, public investment plan, IP construction projects, comprehensive revitalization of the Historic Center, clean reindustrialization of Vallejo-isafe tourism, digitization, simplification of procedures and credits accessible to MSMEs.
For July 2021, another new reactivation plan focused on 10 points was released, whose main objective is to achieve a recovery of employment and growth of the city in the short term, where the bases are construction and vaccination.
The 10 lines of action of this new plan were: guarantee vaccination for the entire population; income support for families and MSMEs; public investment in mobility, water and social infrastructure; emerging actions for the reactivation of construction; promotion of strategic projects with private companies; tourist and cultural reactivation; impulse to Vallejo-i; reactivation of the Historical Center; circular economy and clean energy, and a safe city.
By March 2022, at the General Assembly of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council of Mexico City, three packages of projects were announced to strengthen the economic reactivation plans, these were: the development of the popular, social and solidarity; new instruments for the development of the construction and housing sector and proposals for the reactivation of culture, tourism and the Historic Center.
