Dos Bocas refinery will start gas injection in December: Nahle

The new Olmeca refinery located in Paraíso, Tabasco, will begin to produce oil in 2023, but the injection of natural gas to the complex located near the port of Dos Bocas will begin in December of this year, said the Minister of Energy, dew nahle.

“This month we began to supply gas to the refinery, gas has to arrive because steam is produced with the gas, the steam is carried out by sweeping the lines inside, with steam, to clean impurities, at the same time tests are being carried out in the equipment, we are talking about 80,000 valves,” said the official in the framework of the 2022 LP Gas Congress in Mexico City, “and when they ask me when it will produce, well, we are just going to add gas. We add gas in December , next year we will be adding the components, but next year we have to produce the gasoline.”

It should be remembered that the President Andres Manuel Lopez Obradoralso said this Tuesday in his morning conference that the refinery will not comply with the commitment to start fuel production in 2022, but that since it is “a process that takes time, it will start next year.

“I’m going on December 23 (to the refinery) at once I tell them that yes we will be there on the 23rd in the morning of December, not on the 24th, and not on the 25th, but on the 23rd yes and the refinery is already being integrated, That’s what I’m going to do on the 23rd and it’s a process, it takes time, but yes, it’s going to start, if not by the end of this year or early next year, it will begin to produce fuel,” said the president.

Therefore, Nahle reiterated that the refinery is a work that has been built in record time compared to three Chinese refineries that are about to open and that took nine years to start up.

“In any process of industrial transformation, who governs its start-up at the time is called security. It is security that is marking us. However, Dos Bocas worldwide is an example. In the coming weeks I will show you how refineries that is scheduled to enter the world this month, there are three Chinese refineries, it took 9 years to build, so Dos Bocas is a world record in its construction,” he said.
