Queretaro, Qro. During this 2022, 46 private investment projects have been completed in Querétaro, which in sum represent capital of 22,000 million pesos and 13,000 jobs, according to information from the Secretariat for Sustainable Development (Sedesu).
The total number of projects that have materialized this year represent an increase of 48.4% in relation to the 31 investment projects that were completed in 2021, said the head of Sedesu, Marco Antonio Del Prete Tercero.
According to the secretary, both in number of projects and in jobs the entity exceeded the indicators of the previous year.
However, there are still investments to be announced before the end of the year; one of them will become official at the beginning of December.
“Many countries seek to take advantage of nearshoring, or having close (supply) chains; obviously Europe because of the proximity we have with the United States, (also) Asia ”, she pointed out.
At the moment, he added, the state administration maintains a dialogue with investors who have expressed interest in arriving in the state, particularly European, Japanese, Korean and even some Chinese investments.
“Talks have been held with many companies in question of coming to invest, we have European investment projects (…) also some Chinese, in the portfolio, so all this would be nothing more to consolidate our presence in these points,” he declared.
Currently, the agency has a portfolio of approximately 65 investment projects, mainly for the automotive industry.
The projects in the automotive industry, explained the secretary, arise after the disruptions that this industry had in the supply chains, largely due to the deficit of semiconductors and to which were added the logistical implications at a global level, both derived from the pandemic. by Covid-19.
“(The investment portfolio) is a perpetual inventory that, as confirmed by companies that decide to invest, other projects are added to the portfolio (…) (they are) mainly automotive, the automotive sector was the most sacrificed sector in the supply chain” , he stressed.
meeting planning
In this sense, the head of Sedesu expressed that there is interest from other entities to learn about the investment attraction model of Querétaro.
Meanwhile, he added that it is premature to talk about upcoming work tours abroad, since business meetings are currently being planned by sectors, including the automotive, aerospace, plastics and industry in general.
Regarding the attraction of Foreign Direct Investment, from January to September the entity received 764.9 million dollars, a figure that is 25.7% below the 1,030 million dollars for the same period of 2019, exposes the Ministry of Economy.
Although it also represented an annual rebound of 10.9 percent.
