CRE reaches 450 permits for new gas stations granted in 2022

The Energy regulatory commission (CRE) granted this Tuesday 17 permits for new gas station service stations in the country, with which so far this year there have been 450 permits for new establishments, in contrast to the 114 that were granted in 2021, and it is still The regulator’s governing body may meet one or two more times before the end of the year.

“450 permits is a good number, but it must be remembered that a lag of two previous years has been dragging on,” said the energy consultant for oil products from Lexoil Consultores, Marcial Díaz, to The Economista.

According to the analyst, the permits granted so far are a good sign that 2023 will start without suspended terms and deadlines derived from the covid 19 pandemicsince throughout 2020 and 2021 the windows for receiving procedures remained closed, with which the backlog of permits accumulated 950 applications by 2022.

“It is presumed without conceding that within the CRE we are experiencing times of change and we will see a very interesting 2023, since two commissioners finish on December 31 and those who continue some have a very particular vision, since there are requests for permission and/or assignment or modification that were presented more than 24 months ago and are being discussed in the last sessions where the accusations are very serious and violate the security and legal certainty of the regulated party”, asserted Marcial Díaz.
