Weekly consumer prices in Russia rose again, but more slowly than the previous week, confirming expectations that the central bank will maintain its key interest rate at its meeting tomorrow.
Russia’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 0.19% in the week to December 12, according to the federal statistics service, Rosstat, from 0.58% the week before. Since the beginning of the year, prices have increased 11.86% compared to 8.39% in 2021.
The indexation of the rates of public services caused an acceleration of prices.
Fruit and vegetable prices continued to rise faster than most items in the basket, at 2.7 percent.
The price of an economy class plane ticket increased 6% compared to the previous week.
In another series of data, the Russian Economy Ministry stated that inflation stands at an annualized rate of 12.65% as of December 12, compared to 12.50% the previous week.
