President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said this Monday morning that his government is in contact with the US aircraft manufacturer Boeingwith a view to leasing aircraft for the operations of a new State airline.
The Government plans to create a state airline dependent on the Secretary of Defensethrough the company Olmeca Maya Mexica, which will be in charge of the Félipe Ángeles International Airport and other terminals in the country, with the aim of expanding flight itineraries.

López Obrador has said that his government aims to create a new state version of the defunct Mexicana de Aviación and that it is in talks with former employees and former executives of the company to obtain the rights to use the brand.
The state airline would come into operation at the end of 2023, according to the president said in November.
