“Alito” Moreno justifies expansion of management and attacks his critics in the PRI

The national leader of ATAlejandro Moreno Cárdenas, justified the statutory reform that will allow him to extend his term to 2024, and attacked his critics within the party, including senators, former leaders and former PRI governors.

The PRI released this Tuesday the speech that Moreno Cárdenas gave yesterday during the session of the National Political Council, where the reform to article 83, section 37 of the statutes of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (AT), which will allow you to extend your term beyond the original term, which was August 18, 2023.

Moreno argued that more than 1.6 million votes from across the country placed him in this position, and justified that the decisions of the National Political Council “are not decisions of a single person or of the leadership, they are sovereign decisions of the Councilors, of our highest body, after the National Assembly, which is the National Political Council”.

The decisions that the Council has approved today are decisions of the absolute majority, of the national political Councilors in complete freedom. It is a sovereign decision of each and all of us, ”he insisted.

It should be noted that yesterday morning, Moreno Cárdenas assured that he would not promote statutory reforms to remain president of the National Executive Committee of the PRI, and guaranteed that in August 2023 he would publish the call to renew the leadership.

In his speech after the reform was approved, the national leader and PRI deputy defended himself against the criticism he has received for expanding his administration, and previously for voting together with Morena for the constitutional reform to expand the military presence in public security tasks.

Some of the PRI members who have criticized him are senators Miguel Ángel Osorio Chong; Claudia Ruiz Massieu, former party leaders such as Pedro Joaquín Coldwell and Roberto Madrazo, and even 15 former governors who have asked for his resignation.

Without mentioning any specific, Moreno Cárdenas said that he knows the interests of his critics, and maintained that some of them serve as a “zapa” without knowing it.

“I understand, but I do not share, that there are those who like to undermine us from within, who do sapping work without knowing it, even knowing it. Many of them seek a substitution that favors them despite the fact that they have bargained or evaded their full contribution to our political institute.

“I will never agree with those who promote troubled rivers to generate profits for fishermen who are sheltered in opportunism and conspiracy.

“I know of the interests and the motives that are around those who seek to establish themselves as interpreters of our party and of the tasks that they must undertake. I know that many of them go after the gifts that they feel they have lost, they disguise their interests and ambitions as proposals through speeches that seek to exploit supposed fissures within our party”, he maintained.

“As if the adversities we have were not little, add those that are unleashed from within the party and that regardless of their declared purposes end up going against the current of the task we undertake to integrate and cohere our political institute,” he added.

He even accused former PRI presidents of inheriting a bankrupt party. “They left us an indebted, bankrupt party and today I can proudly tell this National Political Council and our militancy that this leadership, in just over three years, has paid 93 percent of the party’s debt. And we have done it with administrative discipline, taking care of the party’s resources and today we have a healthy party, with public resources that are exercised in a transparent manner”, he affirmed.

“I don’t collect or pay bills,” he says

Moreno Cárdenas once again defended himself against PRI members who questioned him for having voted for the so-called military reform just when the Morena party wanted to open an impeachment trial against him from the Investigative Section of the Chamber of Deputies.

“Let it be clear: this leadership and our party neither pay bills nor collect bills; Here the loyalty, the capacity and the militancy of the good PRI members are recognized.

“From here I say it with courage, with character and with determination: they don’t even scare the PRI leader and the PRI members, they don’t even bend us and we will never back down. We are going to be here to confront this regime and confront this government,” he maintained.

In that framework, Alejandro Moreno Cardenas summoned the internal unit.

“Today we do not live in democratic normality and we have to be clear that the only thing that gives strength to the party is its internal unity, unity to build, unity to work, unity to walk, unity to advance and unity to win. That is what the PRI needs, unity in each and every one of the corners of our country.

“In this hard framework of great difficulties, there are tendencies that disperse our efforts, due to the deficiencies of our internal arrangement. Harmonizing the tasks and the cohesion of the party in this hard framework has not been easy and it cannot be achieved with a single impulse, ”he stated.
