No half measures for 2023

What can be the limits of the regime of Andrés Manuel López Obrador that must be accepted without the effects of his so-called Fourth Transformation beginning to affect the foundations of a democratic country, with an open economy, good international relations, without macroeconomic stability problems? , come on, without a totalitarian regime?

Letting go of the style of government must have the same limit set by the laws that this country has built in so many decades, many of them very difficult, and that have shaped a country full of defects, many injustices, but on a path that did not pose a setback like the current one.

López Obrador did not achieve an absolute majority in the two chambers of Congress in the 2018 presidential election and in the 2021 intermediate elections, far from preserving and increasing his qualified majority with the deputies, he lost it. That is the sign that he sent a majority of citizens and that is what must be respected by those who swore to comply with and enforce the laws from the Executive branch.

The Judiciary enjoys constitutional autonomy and cannot be violated by pressure of any kind. The Chicana used by the Supreme Court to allow unconstitutional electrical secondary laws to survive will be a stain on history. But they can dirty that power more if they let go, for example, of the compelling and irrefutable evidence that disqualifies Minister Yasmín Esquivel.

It is totally foreseeable that the regime will accelerate its attempts to seize all power, the start of 2023 will be marked by the attempt to annul the National Electoral Institute and the Electoral Tribunal of the Judiciary as the architects of electoral processes that had been won everyone’s trust, including those who gained power with these rules and today want to blow up the bridge.

As the authoritarian clamp closes, the effects will begin to be felt in all areas of daily life, starting with the economic field. Without trust there is no investment and therefore growth. That is linear.

Social polarization will show groups that would not hesitate to become violent every day with more force. Today, after the presidential words that the attack against the journalist Ciro Gómez Leyva could have been to affect him, we hear that hate speech against communicators and the media every day more strident and closer.

In 2023 and onwards there will no longer be margins to remain indefinite and inattentive to what is happening to this country.

The first good reaction is not to fall into the trap of that polarization that invites violence. Andrés Manuel López Obrador is the constitutional president of the United Mexican States and deserves all the respect and recognition as the highest authority. He represents our country and wears an inauguration that must be taken care of.

That necessary respect does not mean that we lose the right to defend our ideas and the universal values ​​of a democratic country like Mexico. It does not mean that we have to remain as simple spectators of the destruction of our own country.
