General beds in 22 municipalities, saturated

Given the escalation of Covid-19 cases in the country, until last Monday there were 16 municipalities and town halls that had a 100% saturation in general beds, while six had an occupancy of 70 to 87.5%, according to data from the Secretariat. Federal Health Service (SSA).

The 22 municipalities with a saturation considered dangerous (70 to 100%) in general beds were distributed among 13 entities:

The municipalities with an occupancy of 100% were Jesús María (Aguascalientes); Zaragoza (Coahuila); Villa of Alvarez (Colima); Taxco (Warrior); Tulancingo and Apan (Hidalgo); Tala and Tlajomulco (Jalisco).

In addition to Tlanepantla, Cuautitlán, Tecámac and Coacalco (State of Mexico); Charo and Pátzcuaro (Michoacán); Huatulco (Oaxaca); The Marquis (Querétaro).

While the municipalities that present a saturation between 70 and 87.5% are Chihuahua (Chihuahua); Cuauhtémoc, Iztacalco and Coyoacán (Mexico City); Huajuapan (Oaxaca) and Ciudad Madero (Tamaulipas).

Regarding beds with a fan, only one municipality, Villa de Álvarez in Colima, presents a saturation of 75%, which places it at risk. The other localities present occupancy in the category of 50% or less.

It is worth mentioning that the SSA records are from only 424 municipalities in which it monitors hospital saturation through the Severe Acute Respiratory Infection Network System (SARI).

Increase in infections

Yesterday the Undersecretary of Health, Hugo López-Gatell reported that there have been eight continuous weeks of increases in Covid-19 infections in the country.

“This trend, although it is slower than what other periods have presented throughout this pandemic, it is important to be aware of its growth. Fortunately, this situation has remained very consistent where cases increase, but hospitalizations increase at a much lower rate than the cases increase, ”he said.

López-Gatell pointed out that at the national level the average saturation in general beds is 7% and with a fan it is 2%.
