The Mexican peso slightly appreciated against the American dollar this Wednesday December 28th. The local currency advanced during the midweek session which remains with little trading with erratic movements.
The exchange rate ended the session at the level of 19.4205 units per greenback against the close of 19.4666 units yesterday, with data from the Bank of Mexico (Banxico). This meant a marginal gain of 4.6 cents for the local currency, equivalent to a variation of 0.2 percent.
“In the absence of relevant references, operators are still pending China,” said the firm CI Banco.
The markets’ attention remains on the easing of restrictions due to Covid-19 in China, which, although it fueled expectations of a rebound in economic growth, also raised concerns about the rapid increase in infections in that country.
The Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the greenback against a basket of six strong reference currencies, advanced 0.34% at the close to a level of 104.53 units.
