Details are emerging about the highly anticipated Yellowstone spinoff centered on fan-favorite characters Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler. Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser, and Finn Little are confirmed to reprise their roles as Beth, Rip, and their adopted son Carter.
Recent filming in Ferris, Texas, sparked confusion after a local news outlet identified the project as Rio Palo. However, a representative for production company 101 Studios has since clarified that the series being filmed is the untitled Beth and Rip show. The spinoff, which previously had the working title Dutton Ranch, remains officially unnamed.
The Texas production setting marks a potential shift for the characters, who were last seen on a new ranch in Montana. The move aligns with series creator Taylor Sheridan’s expanding production base in the state, which includes a large new studio in Fort Worth, approximately an hour from the Ferris filming location. Several other shows in the Yellowstone universe, including prequels 1883 and 1923, have also utilized locations in both Texas and Montana, suggesting the new series may follow a similar filming strategy.
The Beth and Rip series is one of several spinoffs in various stages of development as Paramount continues to expand the franchise. Updates have been scarce for the planned 6666 and 1944 series. Another project, The Madison, starring Michelle Pfeiffer, has reportedly completed filming, though no release date has been announced. Meanwhile, Y: Marshals, a series focused on Luke Grimes’ character Kayce Dutton, is scheduled to debut on CBS in 2026. While unconfirmed, reports suggest the Beth and Rip spinoff could also premiere that year.
