The New Orleans Saints have traded veteran defensive tackle Khalen Saunders to the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to a report from NFL Media.
The trade occurred shortly after Saunders started for the Saints in a preseason game against the Jaguars. Despite the start, he was listed as a backup on New Orleans’ depth chart.
Last season, Saunders recorded 43 total tackles, three tackles for loss, two sacks, an interception, and three pass breakups in 13 games. He spent the past two seasons with the Saints after a four-year tenure with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he was a member of two Super Bowl-winning teams.
Saunders is entering the final year of his contract and is scheduled to make a base salary of $1.3 million.
