Mexico, together with the WEF and the IDB, supports women in foreign trade

The Secretariats of Economy and Tourism of Mexico, in coordination with the World Economic Forum and the Inter-American Development Bank, carry out actions to implement in 30 months an action plan focused on reducing the gender economic gap.

First of all, the Global Economic Intelligence Unit (UIEG) carries out, from its powers, the economic promotion of Mexican women abroad through the creation of virtual business roundtables.

Since 2020, for three consecutive years, the Ministry of Economy organizes, in collaboration with other federal government entities, such as the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Institute for Women, as well as as with the Inter-American Development Bank, the Connect Americas business network, the Mexican Association of Women Business Leaders, the Mexican Federation of LGBT+ Entrepreneurs and OWIT Mexico, the MujerExportaMx promotional event.

In particular, MujerExportaMx consists of a virtual business roundtable for SMEs ready to export, owned by Mexican women. Through the business meetings that are organized during the virtual roundtable, Mexican exporting companies have the opportunity to connect with companies Interested buyers from priority target markets, from all over the world, with priority in the business opportunities derived from the commercial agreements that Mexico has, such as T-MEC, TIPAT and TLCUEM.

The event includes, in each of its editions, a training and updating program for Mexican companies that includes relevant and current topics for the better insertion of companies in foreign trade. In these business roundtables, participation has been weighted of indigenous women and those belonging to LGBTIQ+ communities.

On the other hand, the requirements to participate in the virtual business roundtables of MujerExportaMx are the following: ownership of at least 10% of the company must correspond to a woman of Mexican nationality; Being a micro, small or medium-sized Mexican company that produces and/or markets products (less than 250 employees), legally constituted and with a valid RFC, among others.
