Quintana Roo national leader in cruise ship arrivals in 2022

Chetumal.- Quintana Roo will close the year with almost four million cruise passengers who arrived at the ports of Cozumel and Mahahual, in the north and south of the state, positioning the entity as a national leader in the arrival of floating hotels, which allows the success tourism is reflected in each of the homes as promoted by the State Governor, Mara Lezama Espinosa.

The head of the executive highlighted that the figures registered at the end of the year in tourism with 30 million passengers at the Cancun International Airport and a hotel occupancy of more than 90 percent, allow us to glimpse a future with shared prosperity to advance in closing the inequality gaps and that wealth reaches all households.

For this, the State Government promotes the New Agreement for the Well-being and Development of Quintana Roo, with the participation of all those who are immersed in this activity, the engine of the state economy, so that the benefits of growth be shared.

Likewise, it promotes sustainable and sustainable tourism development, aligned with the 2030 Agenda, in order to overcome many obstacles so that a large part of society, first the poor, can live better in an environment of greater equality.

This 2022 closed with a projection of two million 923 thousand 459 passengers in 1,117 cruises, 350% more than in 2021 when the figure of 650 thousand 117 visitors was barely reached in 353 floating hotels, according to data from the Integral Port Administration ( Apiqroo).

While, at Costa Maya, in Mahahual, one million 046 thousand 286 passengers arrived on 410 cruise ships.

For January 2023, it begins with a lot of cruise activity since from two to eight -the last week of vacation- there will be activity in the Punta Langosta, SSA México, Puerta Maya terminals with 35 boats. Only on Thursday the 5th, seven operations are scheduled in Cozumel.
