Santander México led the local debt capital market in 2022

According to Bloomberg statistics, the institution topped the ranking of Placement Intermediaries in the Local Debt Capital Market in 2022, with a market share of 26.6%.

With this, it is the institution with the highest volume placed in that year, increasing its market share by 6.4 percentage points compared to 2021.

Banco Santander explained that during 2022, it executed 60 issuances in the local debt capital market, obtaining a market share equivalent to an amount of 80,221 million pesos, which implied a growth of 1.65 times, compared to 2021.

Of the total of these issues, he highlighted, 28% were made with ESG criteriawhich seek to reduce the environmental impact of their clients’ operations, as well as achieve specific social benefits.

“It should be noted that Santander acted as ESG Structuring Agent in some of these operations,” the bank said.

Alejandro Capote, Deputy General Manager Santander Corporate and Investment Banking Méxicothanked its clients for their trust in the bank to act as placement intermediary.

“This result, without a doubt, reflects great teamwork,” he said.

Some of the Santander customers in this segment are: América Móvil, Banco Latinoamericano de Comercio Exterior, Banco Nacional de Comercio Exterior (Bancomext), Banco Nacional de Obras y Servicios Públicos (Banobras), IDB Invest, Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE), Engencap, Fomento Económico Mexicano , North Central Airport Group and Pacific Airport Group.

Also, Grupo Palacio de Hierro, Industrias Bachoco, the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP), and Sociedad Hipotecaria Federal (SHF), among others.
