“It’s time for all of our great Republican members of the House to vote for Kevin, get the deal done and win,” Trump posted on social media early Wednesday. “Republicans, don’t turn a huge win into a gigantic, embarrassing loss,” he said.

Part of the right wing of the Republicans believes that McCarthy is not loyal enough to Trump.

For this reason, the former president encouraged them by writing: “It’s time to celebrate, you deserve it,” said Trump. “Kevin McCarthy will do a good job, and maybe even a great job.”

The Speaker of the House of Representatives wields a lot of influence in Washington and is the third most important political personality after the Vice President and the President.

McCarthy needs 218 votes in the House, something that is supposed to be easy to achieve with a majority of 222 seats. But 19 Republicans voted against him in the first two rounds and 20 in the third.
