Annual inflation in Colombia closes 2022 at 13.12%

The National Administrative Department of Statistics (Dane) announced that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for December was 1.26%, while the annual figure closed at 13.12%, much higher than expected. Said registration is mainly driven by food and non-alcoholic beverages, which grew 27.81%, followed by restaurants and hotels, with 18.54 percent.

In the last month of the year, the highest price increases were registered in the subclasses of tubers (109.84%), onion (106.81%) and cassava for home consumption (88.08%). The smallest price increases were reported in the subclasses raw panela for home consumption (4.10%), mineral water (with and without gas) for home consumption (8.96%) and concentrates to prepare soft drinks (9.03 percent).

In the case of the second most expensive category, the greatest increases were registered in the subclasses of meals prepared outside the home for immediate consumption in table service and self-service establishments (21.40%), hot drinks (20.81%) and meals. in table service and self-service establishments (18.70 percent).

The smallest price increases were reported in the subclasses payment for food in canteens (6.90%), expenses in discotheques (.67%) and hotel accommodation services (12.97 percent).

The information and communication division registered an annual variation of 0.25%, this being the lowest to date.
