The President of the United States, Joe Biden, arrived this Sunday afternoon at the Felipe Ángeles International Airport in Mexico, where he was received by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
During the reception, both heads of state were accompanied by the Secretary of Foreign Relations of Mexico, Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon; the Mexican ambassador to the United States, Esteban Moctezuma Barragán; the Director General of Protocol, Martha Susana Peón Sánchez, and the United States Ambassador to Mexico, Ken Salazar, according to an official statement from the Mexican government.

Ahead of the North American leaders’ summit, US President Joe Biden visited the US-Mexico border on Sunday for the first time as president, but did not appear to see or meet with migrants, including during a trip to a rest center for migrants.
Biden spent several hours in El Paso on his first visit to the southern border as president, following mounting protests and criticism that he had yet to see firsthand the crisis created by the record number of migrants heading to the border. But that brief visit seemed largely focused on compliance issues and talking to border control personnel. Reporters on the ground did not see any migrants at the rest center during the president’s visit there, nor along the caravan routes throughout the afternoon.
