legendary british guitarist Jeff Beckwho became famous with the band The Yardbirds in the 1960s, has died at the age of 78 of meningitis, his family announced Wednesday night in a statement.
“On behalf of his family, it is with deep sadness that we share the news of the death of Jeff Beck. After suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis, he passed away peacefully yesterday,” according to a statement on the musician’s official website.
After his rise to fame with the Yardbirds, Beck shone on the blues and rock scene with his solo career.
