Uruapan registers the lowest price in the basic basket in Michoacán

As a result of the implementation of the price control strategy in the basic basket in Michoacán, state authorities announced that Uruapan is the municipality that currently concentrates the lowest cost.

In his weekly press conference, the governor, Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, recalled that this subnational plan intends to implement a series of public policies to stop the rise in the prices of the basic basket, either through incentives for production, reduction of costs, control of transport prices and alliances with companies.

Precisely, the project was presented last year and it is the first package of actions at the state level that seeks to complement the federal Package Against Inflation and Famine (Pacic).

In this regard, the secretary of Economic Development of the entity, Claudio Méndez Fernández, explained that after a four-month cash cut of the strategy and where the implementation of monitoring the prices of the basic basket is added, the municipality of Uruapan It has remained the one that has offered the best prices.

In this part of the state territory, the lowest cost of the basic basket is around 1,000.40 pesos, while in the first week of the implementation of the strategy, still in 2022, the highest price was 1,313.90 pesos.

In the monitoring carried out on January 21, the lowest cost was offered at the Soriana store in Uruapan.

Meanwhile, in this same week of monitoring, which covers January 21, the municipality of Morelia is the one that shows the greatest disparity, with 1,317.50 pesos.

Meanwhile, in the municipality of Apatzingán the minimum price is 1,012.50 pesos, followed by Lázaro Cárdenas with 1,016 pesos, then Zitácuaro with 1,032.69 pesos, as well as Zamora with 1,047 pesos.

According to the governor, prices have also been lowered for 25 products, such as corn oil, rice, and beef steak.

“In addition, the main objective is being met, which is to keep the population informed about the best options to purchase basic consumer products,” he reiterated.

Ramírez Bedolla also announced that self-governing indigenous communities will be able to access in 2023 a bag of 15 million pesos from the Strengthening Fund for Peace (Fortapaz).

The leader of the Michoacan Executive explained that this is part of the strategy for the construction of peace in the state, and it is also part of a budgetary increase in resources.

Precisely, last year an amount of 11.9 million pesos was delivered to the communities.

“Currently there are 133 elements from nine certified self-government communities that have already passed the C3 (control and confidence exam) and that will continue with their initial police training course to later have the Single Police Certificate (CUP ) of the National Public Security System”, commented the Undersecretary of Legislative Liaison and Registry Affairs, Humberto Urquiza Martínez.
