Guadalajara, Jal. To maintain leadership as the main generator of employment in the state of Jalisco, the municipality of Zapopan launched, for the third consecutive year, a program to support small and medium-sized exporting enterprises (SMEs)in order that they can grow their markets abroad.
through the program Zapopan Exportsthe municipal government will take local companies producers of craft beer and the gastronomic and food industryto the National Harvest Festival 2023 to be held in the city of Mendoza, Argentina, from March 3 to 6.
“We are inviting all small and medium-sized companies that are dedicated to the beer, gastronomy, wine and tourism value chain so that they get on this call”, commented to El Economista, the general coordinator of Economic Development and Combat to Inequality of Zapopan, Salvador Villaseñor.
Through the program, the municipality grants support to SMEs “so that on this commercial tour they can generate business in this city, which is the international wine capital” of the South American country.
In addition, the official mentioned, Argentina is located in the Bioceanic corridor; “That is, the best commercial relationship that South America has with New Zealand and Australia, then, these micro-entrepreneurs will be able to link up and generate attractive businesses.”
Villaseñor Aldama explained that for this third edition of Zapopan Exportathe municipality disposed of a bag of 450,000 pesos and, for its part, the Secretariat of Economic Development (Sedeco) of Jalisco, will have a similar amount for the call to be extended to SMEs throughout the state of Jalisco.
According to the municipal official, with the participation in the National Harvest Festival in Mendoza, the aim is to position the craft beer that is produced in the municipality since the metropolitan area of Guadalajara “we are the city that produces the most craft beer from all of Latin America.
Therefore, he said, the call is addressed to all the SMEs that make up the craft beer value chain, but also to those who are dedicated to gastronomy, to restaurants that sell beer and wine, to those who are dedicated to pairing and those who import or export generous wines, as well as those who participate in the value chain of the tourism sector.
With data as of December 2022, Zapopan is the main generator of employment in the state with 455,000 jobs registered with the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), and they represent 26% of the total workers in all of Jalisco. Only last December, 5,440 jobs were created in the municipality, a figure that represented an increase of 40% compared to the same month in 2021.
