Russell Westbrook’s wife hits out at ESPN after he was accused of being a ‘VAMPIRE’ in the Lakers locker room before his Jazz trade, saying her children hear ‘the nasty things about their father’ from TV repeated
The wife of Russell Westbrook has slammed ESPN after a report claiming the former LA Lakers star was a ‘vampire’ in the locker room.
Comments from Lakers reporter Dace McMenamin enraged Nina Westbrook after he revealed a source described the former MVP as the fictional figure.
‘As one source told me, you remove a vampire from the locker room,’ McMenamin said Thursday on ESPN’s NBA Today.
‘That meaning, a vampire sucks the blood out of the locker room. Russell Westbrook moves on.’
Nina Westbrook fiercely responded, commenting beneath the post: ‘This is just sick ESPN… Russell is no vampire.

‘This also slander because anyone who knows anything knows that this couldn’t be further from the truth.
‘On a personal note, I have school aged children who have to listen to their peers repeat the nasty things that you guys say on television about their father.
‘I guess I will prepare myself to explain to my 5-year-old that his dad is not actually a vampire and that major news outlets only say things like that to get attention.’

Russell Westbrook was traded from the Lakers to the Utah Jazz on Wednesday in a three-team trade which led to D’Angelo Russell’s reunion with the LA franchise.
Other NBA players and sports personalities commented on the Instagram video, with Cavs star Donovan Mitchell writing ‘stop it.’
Chris Paul added: ‘Put a name on it…,’ seemingly referring to McMenamin’s unidentified source. Free agent Carmelo Anthony was more direct, asking ‘whose the source?’
Meanwhile, Hall of Fame wide receiver Terrell Owens sounded off on the nature of anonymous sourcing and his perceived impact of it upon athletes, namedropping longtime rival Skip Bayless.
