(Trends Wide) — Two South Florida religious schools are investigating “racially insensitive comments or gestures” allegedly made during a high school football game Wednesday, according to a joint statement from the Archdiocese of Miami and Scheck Hillel Community School.
According to the joint statement, a “physical altercation” occurred after the game played at Scheck Hillel Community School, a Jewish private school near North Miami Beach, against Archbishop Coleman Carroll High School. Archbishop Coleman is a school of the Archdiocese of Miami located in the community of Hammocks.
“It is alleged that Archbishop Coleman Carroll students may have made racially insensitive comments or gestures early in the incident, although both schools are still completing their initial investigation,” the joint statement said.
The schools indicated that they “will take appropriate action with the students involved.” The Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) was informed of the incident, according to the joint statement.
