(CNN) — Actor Alec Baldwin pleaded not guilty to manslaughter charges related to the Rust case Thursday, according to a court document that marks his first court appearance.
Baldwin was released on parole as long as he did not possess a weapon, refrain from drinking alcohol and did not speak to other witnesses to the shooting, according to court documents.
He was originally expected to appear in court on Friday, but it is no longer necessary because he waived his first appearance. Gunsmith Hannah Gutierrez Reed is still expected to appear in court on Friday.
CNN has reached out to Baldwin for comment.
Baldwin and Gutierrez Reed were indicted on manslaughter charges last month in the death of the film’s cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins. The lawyers for both defendants previously insisted that their respective clients are innocent.
Hutchins was struck and killed by a round of live ammunition fired from a prop gun held by Baldwin, who has claimed he did not pull the trigger on the gun.
The film’s director, Joel Souza, was also shot and wounded.
Earlier this week, prosecutors reduced the charges against Baldwin and Gutierrez Reed, which could reduce the prison time both could face by five years.
Earlier this month, Hutchins’ parents and sister sued Baldwin, as well as the film’s production company and others over her death.
CNN’s Kevin Flower contributed to this report.
