AMLO shares a photo of an alleged mythological being in works on the Mayan Train and users deny it

Through their official profiles, the President of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador He shared a snapshot that he assures was taken during the supervision of the works of the Mayan trend and in which an unknown entity can be seen prostrate in a tree, which according to the publication would be an ‘aluxe’, a mythological being belonging to the Mayan culture.

“I share two photos of our supervision of the Mayan Train works: one, taken by an engineer three days ago, apparently from a aluxe; another, by Diego Prieto of a splendid pre-Hispanic sculpture in Ek Balam. Everything is mystical.” wrote the president in his publication, which currently has more than 100,000 reactions and almost 10,000 comments.

The reactions of the users did not wait and flooded the president’s publication, assuring that it is an inaccuracy and false information. According to several users, the image that presumes AMLO of the supposed mythological being would have gone viral 3 years ago and it would be a paranormal sighting in the municipality of General Terán in Nuevo León.

The communicator Johnny Martínez would have shared the same photograph as the president on Twitter, however, Martínez did so on February 9, 2021, assuring that a person named Juan Pacheco would have been responsible for capturing the image, while the president presumes it would have been taken by an engineer just 3 days ago.

The Mexican president also shared a photograph of a pre-Hispanic Mayan sculpture found in Ek Balam, taken by Diego PrietoCEO of the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH).

What is an aluxe?

According to the Mayan culture, the aluxes are mythological creatures that live in the jungles of southern Mexico, responsible for the care of nature. His physical appearance is similar to that of an old man but his height is like that of a child. These beings are usually mischievous and extroverted and could change their attitude towards men, according to the way they are treated.

According to the legends, these little beings would have been descendants of the Uxmal Dwarf, a creature of the Mayan culture created from mud by old Mayan priests who collected mud from virgin caves where no woman had ever stepped foot.

The alux or alux’Ob (wood genie, elf or millennial dwarf) are usually very territorial and do not like to be invaded by their environment. Like any mythical character, negative actions such as diseases, droughts, bad harvests and even attacks on animals are attributed to them when they feel threatened in their territory.
