Sectur prepares promotional tours to the US and China

The Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco, plans to visit four cities in the United States and one in China this year as part of his strategies: Operation knocks on doors, Reunion with my roots and Así es México seminars, for which he has a federal budget of between 2.4 and six million pesos destined to pay the company that takes charge of the integral service of the various activities to be carried out.

To date, the only firm that has shown interest in the public tender that is underway is Euroamérica Publicidad y Relaciones Públicas, the same firm that was directly awarded a contract for seven million pesos last year to carry out similar tasks in other cities.

Along with businessmen and tourism representatives from various entities, the official is scheduled to start Operation Knocking Doors and a reunion with my roots in Phoenix, Arizona, in the second quarter of the year. Then it will go to Miami, Florida, in the third quarter, and finally it will be in Beijing, China, in the fourth quarter.

The Así es México seminars are planned to be held in Chicago, Illinois, in the second quarter, and in New York, in the fourth quarter.

“As part of Operation knocks on doors, we will go to China this year. We go because the first trip we made was to Beijing. On that occasion nine Secretaries of Tourism were with us. We already know which places the Chinese like. It is an important market. When we already had the familiarization trips ready, the pandemic came and everything was cancelled. Now we are going to complete this program and I announce that the two direct flights from Beijing to our country will be available very soon,” the official said last week.

The decision of the tender that is underway to choose the company that provides comprehensive services for the execution of a positioning and relaunching strategy that contributes to making Mexico and its tourist destinations known in the international market is scheduled for March.
