(CNN) — Actor Lance Reddick was remembered by family and friends following his sudden death on Friday at the age of 60.
“Lance was taken from us too soon,” Stephanie Reddick, the late actor’s widow, wrote in an Instagram post on Saturday. Thank you for all of his overwhelming love, support and beautiful stories shared on these platforms over the last day. I look at your messages and I can’t begin to express how grateful I am to have you.”
Lance Reddick, a veteran actor known for his portrayal of Cedric Daniels on “The Wire” and for his work on the “John Wick” franchise, died of natural causes, according to his representative, Mia Hansen.
His “The Wire” co-star Wendall Pierce recalled Reddick as a “man of great strength and grace” in a tribute on Friday.
“As talented a musician as an actor,” Pierce wrote. “The epitome of the class. A sudden and unexpected acute and painful duel for our artistic family. Unimaginable suffering for his personal family and loved ones. Good luck my friend. You left your mark here.”
“Shocked!! Speechless!! This talented, kind and intelligent king is gone! I was lucky to have worked with you and to have met you,” actress Viola Davis wrote in a tribute on Instagram. I pray for the comfort of his family and loved ones! Rest well, Lance Reddick… See you on the other side.”
Reddick, who appears in “John Wick: Chapter 4”, was also remembered by his colleagues in the franchise.
“A warm-hearted soul, a wonderful human being, and a true friend,” a post for the film read.
Reddick was also the voice of Commander Zavala in the Destiny series of games and beloved in the game’s fan community.
His wife recognized his affection in his tribute.
“And to the thousands of Destiny fans who played in a special tribute to Lance, thank you. Lance loved them as much as he loved the game,” Stephanie Reddick wrote.
She asked that donations be made in her name to momcares.org, a nonprofit organization that serves mothers and families in Baltimore, her hometown.
