Shaquille O’Neal, Kevin Durant and Dwayne Wade become the latest stars to invest in Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TMRW Sports venture
NBA royalty Shaquille O’Neal, Kevin Durant and Dwayne Wade are the latest superstars to invest in Tiger Woods and Rory McIllroy’s TMRW Sports.
The pair co-founded the new startup company – launched in August – with the goal of using technology to help create new pathways for the next generation to enjoy sports.
TMRW Sports announced the news of the trio’s investment in a Twitter post Tuesday.
‘Meet the latest group of investors to join TMRW Sports: @SHAQ, @Dwyane Wade, and @KDTrey5 and @richkleiman’s @35Ventures.
‘These basketball stars know what it takes to build a great team, so we’re excited to continue the momentum with them on board.’

Tiger Woods And Rory McIlroy teamed up to launch TMRW Sports together in August 2022
Durant and Co. join the likes of four-time NBA champion Steph Curry, three-time tennis Grand Slam winner Andy Murray, Japanese two-way standout Shohei Ohtani of Major League Baseball, two-time women’s World Cup champion Alex Morgan, tennis great Serena Williams and seven-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton.
TMRW Sports said Woods and McIlroy would headline a Monday night team golf competition starting in 2024 that will feature PGA Tour players and combine virtual technology and a tech-infused short-game complex at a custom-built venue.
The competition will serve as a supplement to the PGA Tour schedule and a competitor to Saudi-backed LIV Golf, which has recruited many high-profile golfers to join its high-paying team format and ditch the PGA.
While TMRW’s first announced competition will be in golf, the organization has suggested it will expand beyond the links and has already attracted a who’s who of investors from other sports.
The Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen and future hockey Hall of Famer Sidney Crosby have committed to the project as well.
Soccer is also well represented among the company’s investors, as Gareth Bale and Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group’s John Henry and Tom Werner are part of the project.
Chris Paul and Jayson Tatum have also gotten involved from the basketball world.
The golf competition headed by McIlroy and Woods will be a team golf event, with 18 players split into six three-man teams.
Serena Williams and Andy Murray are representing the tennis world as investors in TMRW
F1 star Lewis Hamilton was announced as an investor in the venture in November last year
The different teams will then go head-to-head in a league format over the course of 15 Monday nights throughout the season, each playing five matches and just one match every week.
The new custom-built venue will feature a virtual course, with a large movie theater-sized screen for the players to play their drives and approach shots into, with matches lasting just two hours.
After the regular season, there will be semi-finals and then a final where a winning team will be crowned.
Woods and McIlroy began construction of their brand new TGL project last month with TMRW indicating TGL play will begin early next year, and the league will be in partnership with the PGA Tour.
