(CNN) — In honor of her 14th wedding anniversary, Emma Heming Willis reflected on the memories she has made with her husband, Bruce Willis.
Heming Willis shared a video on Instagram showing the couple renewing their vows in 2019, ten years after they were first married on March 21, 2009.
“On our 10th wedding anniversary, we decided to renew our vows in the same place we said ‘I do’ in 2009. I’m so happy we did,” her caption read. “Take advantage of every opportunity to gather and celebrate with family and friends. Those are the moments and the beautiful memories that you can hold on to for a lifetime. And we can keep those memories safe and alive for those who may not be able to,” she added.
Bruce Willis currently suffers from Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD), a diagnosis his family shared in February after initially announcing in 2022 that Willis had been diagnosed with aphasia.
Frontotemporal dementia is a “general term for a group of brain disorders that primarily affect the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain. These areas of the brain are generally associated with personality, behavior, and language,” according to the Mayo Clinic.
In the video posted by Heming Willis, the Coldplay song “Fix You” plays while the couple is surrounded by family and friends.
In the message that accompanied the post, Heming Willis thanked her husband’s ex-wife, Demi Moore, for being the cameraman at the vow renewal. Also to two of Willis and Moore’s adult daughters, Rumor and Scout, for taking on the roles of the wedding singers and Willis and Heming Willis’s young daughters, Mabel Ray and Evelyn Penn, for playing the flower girls.
The entire extended family has come together to support Willis as he lives with dementia.
Heming Willis shared the anniversary video days after celebrating her husband’s 68th birthday with a heartfelt message meant to raise awareness about living with and caring for someone with dementia.
