Kyrie Irving courts MORE controversy as he reposts anti-vax conspiracy theories on Instagram and complains about social media ruining lives – as part of 45 POSTS in an hour
Kyrie Irving has courted controversy once again after spending his Saturday reposting anti-vaccine, anti-Government and anti-social media propaganda to his Instagram story.
The often-controversial NBA star has been struggling on-court of late, with the Dallas Mavericks on a three-game losing streak and 3-10 run that has seen them drop out of a play-in spot in the Western Conference.
Perhaps in a bid to put Friday night’s latest defeat to the back of his mind, Irving opted to spend his off-day posting on his Instagram, in part complaining about overuse of social media in his 45-post, one-hour spree.
It is not the first time Irving has risked the wrath of the NBA for activity on his social media accounts, after he was previously suspended for posting a link to an anti-Semitic film in October.
He also raised eyebrows in a wide-ranging Twitch stream earlier this month in which he claimed that he is not a ‘free’ man, and argued against a perceived rhetoric that he is ‘the one cancer’ in NBA locker rooms.

He posted various anti-vax conspiracies and took aim at users’ over-reliance on social media
He has also previously posted flat-earth conspiracy theories to his social media and is widely regarded as one of the most controversial figures in the NBA.
In his latest posting spree, he took aim at Bill Gates by reposting a video that assessed his role in the production of vaccines and him profiting from the Covid-19 global pandemic.
Not one to shy away from the big issues, he also addressed the collapse of the Silicon Valley Bank, reposting a tweet that put forward a potential scenario in which ‘more banks will collapse and the financial system [will] spiral out of control.’
In a separate post, he also posted a quote which reads ‘unlearning all the false information we have been programmed with takes time and patience. You got this.’
The subject he focused on most repetitively in his Saturday Instagram posts was that of the overuse of social media, posting various images depicting people’s brains being powered by the likes of Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

He posted a bizarre drawing of a man with an iPhone strapped to his face and spoke about ‘unlearning false information’ in one of his 45 wide-ranging posts on Saturday
He also reposted a video about Covid propaganda, and urged his fans to ‘free themselves’
The irony was not lost on social media users, with one writing on Twitter: ‘Kyrie loves to post about how using social media and mobile phones is ruining all of our lives and destroying our brains.
‘For the record, I don’t disagree. But it does kind of blunt his cautionary tale that he has posted FORTY-FIVE stories on Instagram today alone.’
On the court, Irving requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets earlier this year and has since played 14 times for the Dallas Mavericks.
In that time, they have gone 6-8 with him in the team and have slipped to 11th in the Western Conference standings.
