(CNN) — It turns out that not even handsome, famous men who play superheroes, like Chris Evans, have been spared from being “ghosted.”
This word ––in addition to being the name of the new film starring Evans and Ana de Armas–– comes from the term “ghosting” which is used when a person vanishes or disappears from a relationship without giving any apparent explanation.
Chris Evans, who was voted Sexiest Man Alive for 2022 by People magazine, stated that, like many of us, he faced the disappointment of a romantic interest who stopped communicating with him.
In other words, even Captain America himself has been rejected without any explanation.
“I feel like I’ve been through worse,” Evans said in a recent interview. “I think I’d rather be ghosted because you can make up whatever story you want. I’ve seen the slow deterioration of text message responses, and you just know the person is casually walking away.”
To deal with it, he said, “You tell yourself a story, whatever you have to do to move on.”
The actor, who has been dating Alba Baptista for more than a year, explained that he approaches communication in a relationship with sensitivity.
“I don’t like to argue, I don’t like to raise my voice or any form of manipulation,” Evans said. “I love love. I’m a bit sentimental. I like to be sentimental, I cry quite easily. Before a good song, a beautiful sunset, yes, my emotions come out.”
He added that with age he is better at apologizing.
“I also really see the value and power behind saying ‘I’m sorry,'” Evans said. “If you’re able in those vulnerable moments to stay calm and listen, I think that opens a door in a very healthy way.”
In “Ghosted,” Evans plays a farmer who goes on a date with a character played by Ana de Armas. When she stops talking to him for no reason, he discovers that she is a secret agent.
“Ghosted” will premiere on Apple TV+ on April 21.
